The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 2009 and provided with state of art laboratory facilities and offering hands on training to the students both in conventional subjects and also in the engineering fields of specialization. The department of mechanical engineering is pioneer in R&D activities in this zone. The key areas of Research were Composite materials, Alternative fuels and Welding. The faculty members & Students are actively involved in Research & Development projects & Received Young Scientist Award- 2015 from Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India. The department of mechanical engineering is funded by Ministry of science and Technology, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. The department is executing collaborative research projects with Aeronautics Research & Development Board of Defence Research & Development organization (DRDO), Government of India.

The department is an approved research center of Anna University, Chennai. The Department has an excellent infrastructure and well experienced faculty members who dedicated to produce high caliber technocrats.
