Workshop on Emerging Research Trends in Supercapacitors for Mechanical Engineers

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Selvam College of Technology, organized a Workshop on “Emerging Research Trends in Supercapacitors for Mechanical Engineers” for third-year B.E. Mechanical Engineering students. The session was delivered by Dr. S. Seenivasan, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Physics. A total of 50 students actively participated in the workshop. The resource person explained the fundamentals of supercapacitors, their working principles, and recent advancements in energy storage technologies. Students gained insights into the materials, design, fabrication, and performance characteristics of modern supercapacitors. The session also highlighted the applications of supercapacitors in electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, robotics, and industrial automation. Current research trends, challenges, and future opportunities in supercapacitor technology were discussed in detail. The interactive session enabled students to clarify their doubts and understand the interdisciplinary role of materials science and mechanical engineering in energy storage systems. The workshop enhanced the students’ knowledge of emerging technologies and inspired them to explore research opportunities in sustainable energy solutions. Overall, the programme was highly informative, enriching, and beneficial for the academic and professional development of the participants.
