Guest Lecture on “Communication Skills for Engineering Students”
The Department of Science and Humanities, Selvam College of Technology, organized a Guest Lecture Programme on “Communication Skills for Engineering Students” on 28.11.2024 for the I-Year students. Dr. P. Selvaraj, Chairman of Selvam Educational Institutions, presided over the inaugural function in the august presence of Dr.B.KaviethraNandhini, Secretary of Selvam Educational Institutions and Mr.M.Karthik, Executive Director of Selvam College of Technology. Dr.A.Jegan, Principal, addressed the students. Dr.R.Thangammal, Head of the Department-Mathematics welcomed the gathering.
Dr.N.K.Vivekanandhan, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Government College of Engineering, Salem honoured the event as a resource person. He started his lecture highlighting the educational system. He stated that “If you want to improve in English you should often take efforts”. He motivated the students by saying the importance of communication. His lecture on types of communication like verbal and non verbal communication provoked interest among the students. He demonstrated the steps to improve the communication skills and how to overcome the barriers in communication. He grabbed the attention of the students by lecturing the grammar interactively. He concluded the session by quoting, “College is not just about grades but also about discovering yourself, embrace every opportunity”. The session was highly informative and was very useful for the students.
