Value Added Course on “In Silico Methods for Innovative Drug Development” (VCBT008)
A session on “In Silico Methods for Innovative Drug Development (VCBT008)” was conducted by Dr. A. Ronaldo Anuf, Director – R&D, Scinicron Labs Pvt. Ltd., Kanyakumari from 29.04.2026 to 06.05.2026. The programme was organized by the Department of Biotechnology, BIOSEL Association, Selvam College of Technology, with the objective of enhancing students’ understanding of computational approaches in modern drug discovery.
The resource person explained the fundamental concepts of in silico drug design, including molecular modeling, virtual screening, and computational tools used in pharmaceutical research. Emphasis was placed on the role of bioinformatics and simulation techniques in accelerating drug development, reducing cost, and improving accuracy in predicting drug interactions and efficacy.
The session also highlighted the importance of data analysis, software applications, and safety considerations in computational drug design. Real-time examples and case studies were presented to help students connect theoretical concepts with practical applications in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
The lecture was highly interactive and informative. Students actively participated by raising questions and engaging in discussions, which significantly enhanced their learning experience.
A total of 42 students participated in the session and benefited from the programme.
At the end of the session, students gained a clear understanding of in silico methodologies and their applications in innovative drug development. The programme enhanced their awareness of computational tools and strengthened their knowledge in emerging trends relevant to biotechnology and pharmaceutical sciences.
