The Reaction Zone
A technical event titled “The Reaction Zone” was conducted by Ms.K.Srimathi, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Selvam College of Technology, on 04.07.2026 at Biotechnology Laboratory. The programme was organized with the objective of enhancing students’ understanding of basic chemical reactions and fostering interest in the practical aspects of chemistry through engaging activities.
The resource person structured the event with interactive demonstrations and activity-based rounds focused on fundamental chemical reactions, their mechanisms, and real-time applications. The session emphasized the importance of observing reactions carefully, understanding reaction outcomes, and maintaining proper safety precautions while handling chemicals.
The event was lively and interactive, allowing students to actively participate in demonstrations and discussions. Real-time experiments and examples helped students connect theoretical knowledge with practical understanding. The engaging format encouraged curiosity, critical thinking, and collaborative learning among participants.
A total of 42 students participated in the event and benefited from the programme.
At the end of the session, students developed a clear understanding of basic chemical reactions and safety practices. The programme enhanced their interest in chemistry-related applications within biotechnology and strengthened their awareness of safe laboratory practices.
