Guest Lecture on Industrial Safety Practices and Accident Prevention
The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized an Alumni Talk Series – Guest Lecture on “Industrial Safety Practices and Accident Prevention” for second and third-year undergraduate students. The session was delivered by Er. C. Tamilarasan, Safety Officer, Fusionsole Footwear Pvt. Ltd., Ambur (FARIDA Group). He explained the importance of identifying workplace hazards, maintaining clean and organized workspaces, and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure industrial safety. The speaker emphasized the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), regular safety audits, and continuous employee training to prevent workplace accidents. As part of the session, students participated in a written activity on industrial safety practices and accident prevention measures. The activity helped students understand the practical aspects of hazard identification, safety compliance, and accident prevention in industries. An interactive discussion enabled students to clarify their doubts and gain insights into real-time industrial safety practices. The programme enhanced students’ awareness of occupational safety and prepared them for safe engineering practices in the workplace. A total of 75 students benefited from the programme.
