Webinar on Quantity Surveying
The Department of Civil Engineering organized a No Book Day event titled Alumni Talk Series: “Webinar on Quantity Surveying” for II, III, and IV Year Civil Engineering students. The programme aimed to introduce students to the principles and practices of quantity surveying in the construction industry. The session covered quantity estimation, cost analysis, preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQ), tendering procedures, and project cost management. Students gained valuable insights into the role of quantity surveyors in planning, budgeting, contract administration, and ensuring the economic execution of construction projects. The webinar was delivered by Er. Sivan Sudiyappoo Ramadass, Quantity Surveyor, Rishi & Associates, Coimbatore, shared his professional experience and highlighted the latest industry practices, career opportunities, and the importance of quantity surveying in modern construction projects. The interactive session enhanced students’ understanding of construction cost management, estimation techniques, and professional responsibilities. A total of 55 students (II, III, and IV years) actively participated in the programme, making it an enriching academic initiative that strengthened their industry knowledge and career readiness in the field of quantity surveying.
