Value Added Course on “Mobile Application Development”
Selvam College of Technology, an autonomous institution accredited with an “A” Grade by NAAC, continues its commitment to providing quality-driven and skill-based training programs that prepare students for rapidly evolving industry demands. In line with this vision, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering successfully conducted a five-day Value Added Course (30 hours) on Mobile Application Development from 11 November 2025 to 15 November 2025.
The program was organized in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), focusing on enhancing students’ technical proficiency in mobile application development—one of the most dynamic and in-demand sectors of the technology industry.
The inaugural session was presided over by Dr. S. Babu, Chairman, Selvam Educational Institutions, in the esteemed presence of Dr. B. Kaviethra Nandhini, Secretary, Selvam Educational Institutions, and Mr. M. Karthik, Executive Director, Selvam College of Technology.
Dr. S. Ramabalan, Principal, addressed the students and emphasized the importance of holistic development in engineering education. Mrs. R. Bhuvaneswari, Head, Department of CSE, welcomed the gathering, and Mrs. P.Abinaya, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE, served as the Course Coordinator.
Technical Sessions and Training
The resource person, Mr. K. N. Sethu, Android Developer at Let’s Gametech, Coimbatore, delivered comprehensive training sessions covering:
- Introduction to Android application development
- User interface design and layout creation
- Integration of APIs and backend components
- Application debugging and performance optimization
- Hands-on development of sample mobile applications using Android Studio
Throughout the course, students were actively engaged in practical exercises and real-time demonstrations, gaining valuable exposure to industry-standard development practices. The sessions provided deep insights into the mobile application lifecycle and enabled students to apply theoretical concepts to practical scenarios.
Student Participation and Outcome
Approximately 60 Second-year CSE students participated in the course. They expressed high appreciation for the structured training, hands-on learning approach, and the practical insights shared by the resource person. The program significantly enhanced their technical confidence and understanding of modern mobile development techniques.
Faculty members of the Department of CSE played an integral role in facilitating the program, ensuring effective coordination and a conducive learning environment.
