Transmission and Distribution
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Selvam College of Technology, organized a seminar on “Transmission and Distribution” on 28.02.2026 (AN Session, Saturday) for the First Year, Second Year, and Third Year EEE students. The resource person for the session was Er. S. Sathishkumar, Junior Engineer, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB), O&M – West, Namakkal. He delivered an insightful lecture on the fundamentals of power transmission and distribution systems, explaining the structure and operation of transmission lines, substations, distribution networks, and protection mechanisms. He elaborated on the challenges involved in maintaining uninterrupted power supply, minimizing transmission losses, ensuring voltage regulation, and implementing effective maintenance practices in operation and maintenance (O&M) divisions. The seminar was highly informative and interactive, providing students with practical exposure to real-world transmission and distribution practices adopted by utility sectors. The session enhanced the students’ understanding of core power system operations and encouraged them to explore career opportunities in the transmission and distribution domain. Nearly 150 students actively participated and benefited from the session.
