
Workshop on Cyber Security Essentials for IT Professionals held atSelvam College of Technology
Selvam College of Technology, Department of Science and Humanities, successfully organized a Workshop on “Cyber Security Essentials for IT Professionals” for I Year IT Students on 28.02.2026.
The workshop was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among students about the importance of cyber security in today’s digital world and to enhance their practical knowledge on protecting information systems and data from cyber threats. The session aimed to equip students with essential skills required for IT professionals to safeguard digital assets and ensure secure computing practices.
The resource person for the workshop was Er. S. Hariraj, Cyber Security Consultant, Pargavan Cyber Solutions, Salem, who provided in-depth theoretical knowledge along with practical insights from real-time industry experience. The session covered fundamental concepts of cyber security including types of cyber threats, phishing attacks, malware, ransomware, data protection techniques, password security, network security basics, and safe internet practices.
Special emphasis was given to identifying vulnerabilities, understanding ethical hacking concepts, securing personal and organizational data, and adopting preventive measures against cyber-attacks. The interactive session enabled students to understand real-world cyber security challenges and the responsibilities of IT professionals in maintaining digital safety.
The workshop was highly informative and beneficial, providing students with valuable exposure to essential cyber security principles and industry-relevant practices. The session enhanced students’ awareness, technical understanding, and preparedness to face emerging cyber threats in their academic and professional careers.
A total of 57 participants actively participated and benefited from the workshop, making the program a grand success.
