
Workshop on “AI Based Recommendation Systems” held at Selvam College of Technology
The Department of Science and Humanities organized a workshop on “AI-Based Recommendation Systems” on 28.02.2026 from 9:30 AM to 03:15 PM at the EEE Simulation Lab for I-Year AI&DS students.
The session was handled by the resource person, Er. M. Raja, Technical Head, R Tech Solutions, Salem. The resource person delivered an informative session explaining the concepts, techniques, and real time applications of recommendation systems. He provided clear explanations on how AI is used to analyze user data and generate personalized recommendations on various platforms.
The workshop covered important topics such as introduction to Artificial Intelligence, machine learning basics, types of recommendation systems including content based filtering and collaborative filtering, and their implementation in real world applications. The resource person also explained how recommendation systems are used in platforms such as e-commerce websites, streaming services, and social media.
During the interactive session, students actively participated and gained practical knowledge on the working principles of recommendation systems. The session helped students understand how data is collected, processed, and used to improve user experience through intelligent suggestions. Students also learned about the importance of AI skills in current industry requirements.
The workshop highlighted the growing importance of AI based recommendation systems in various fields such as online shopping, entertainment, education, and digital marketing. The session provided valuable exposure to students and motivated them to explore further learning and research in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
The program was highly informative and beneficial for the participants. I Year AI and DS students actively participated and gained useful knowledge from the workshop. The event successfully enhanced students understanding of AI based technologies and their real-world applications.
