
SCT-HackFest 2026
Selvam College of Technology (Autonomous) successfully organized a national-level hackathon titled “SCT-HackFest 2026” on March 24, 2026, at the ISDTP Seminar Hall. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 800 students representing 50 colleges across various engineering and management disciplines, showcasing innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
The hackathon was jointly organized by the Departments of AI & DS, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, MBA, and Science & Humanities.
The program commenced with a prayer song, followed by a welcome address delivered by Dr. G. Selvaraj, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Dr. S. Babu, Chairman of Selvam Educational Institutions, presided over the function and emphasized the importance of innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. The event was conducted in the presence of Dr. B. Kaviethra Nandhini, Secretary, Selvam Educational Institutions, and Mr. M. Karthik, Executive Director, Selvam College of Technology (Autonomous).
Dr. S. Ramabalan, Principal, and Dr. A. Jegan, Vice Principal, addressed the gathering, encouraging students to actively engage in technological advancements and real-time problem-solving.
The event was graced by distinguished chief guests, Dr. M. Suresh, Co-Founder and CEO of NITINNOV Technologies (P) Ltd., Chennai, and Dr. K. Krishnamoorthi, Associate Professor, Sona College of Technology, Salem. In their keynote addresses, they highlighted the growing significance of hackathons in fostering entrepreneurial thinking and industry-ready skills among students.
During the hackathon, participants worked collaboratively in teams to develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges, demonstrating a high level of technical proficiency and teamwork. The event served as a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange, technological exploration, and interaction with industry experts.
In the competition, Kongunadu College of Engineering and Technology, Trichy, secured first place, followed by Saranathan College of Engineering, Trichy, in second place, and KGiSL Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, in third place. The Best Innovation Award, Best Social Impact Award, and Best Technical Application Award were received by Ganesh College of Engineering, Salem; Jamal Mohamed College, Trichy; and Selvam College of Technology, Namakkal, respectively.
The winners were awarded cash prizes of up to ₹30,000 along with certificates of appreciation.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. R. Mohanabharathi, Head of the Department of Information Technology, who expressed gratitude to the management, organizing committee, participants, and distinguished guests for their valuable contributions in making the event a resounding success.
