Research oriented demonstration regarding Bio Methane Awareness Program.

To initiate research mind among youth, Selvam College of Technology has started a research center in the field of Renewable Energy. Utilization of biofuel was demonstrated on 08.02.14 at Selavm College of Technology. The peoples Movement of India field organizer S.Nallasamy, Dr.P.Selvaraj, Chairman, Selvam Group of Institutions and Center for Innovation director Dr. P. Ayyappan inaugurated the awareness program on Bio Methane. In order to re-utilize the human waste, bio waste and poultry waste, Department of Bio-Technology produces Bio Methane gas from Lagoon Digester plant which is located in our institute. The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Center for Innovation modified the light &heavy vehicles such as bike, tractor and bus. Our students and faculty have proved the performance of bio methane and found that a bus operated with a 25% of diesel and 75% of bio methane mixture given a mileage of 12 km against 4 km in case of diesel. Our main motto is to generate bio methane plants in the uncultivated lands, giving opportunity to the farmers to produce a methane gas for commercial purpose and improve the economic status of our country. With the interest and support of our Chairman Dr. P.Selvaraj and Secretary Dr.B.Kaviethra Nandhini, we created awareness among the society.  The above was arranged by the team of Principal Dr.R.Prabhu, Dean Dr.R.Sasikumar, Transport Manager Mr. P.Veerappan, HOD’s and team of faculties of Bio-Technology and Mechanical Department.
