Hands-on Training on “Smart Farmer Assistance with AI Tool”
Selvam College of Technology, the Department by the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Namakkal, Tamil Nadu Successfully Conducted Hands-on Training on “Smart Farmer Assistance with AI Tool”.
The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at Selvam College of Technology successfully conducted a Hands-on Project Development Training titled “Smart Farmer Assistance with AI Tool”for first year students with the objective of enhancing students’ practical and project-based learning skills. The training was organized as applicationdevelopment activity, focusing on the design and implementation of AI-based solutions to support farmers in decision-making processes. Students actively participated in developing smart applications using artificial intelligence techniques to address real-time agricultural challenges such as crop recommendation, soil analysis, weather prediction, pest identification, and yield forecasting.During the session, participants were guided through the complete application development lifecycle, including problem identification, data collection, model selection, tool usage, implementation, testing, and result analysis. Emphasis was placed on applying AI and data science concepts to create farmer-friendly smart assistance system. The hands-on approach enabled students to translate theoretical concepts into working models, thereby strengthening their skills in AI tools, Python programming, machine learning techniques, and real-world application development. Faculty members encouraged innovation and teamwork, motivating students to develop scalable and socially impactful solutions for the agricultural sector. The training concluded with project demonstrations and discussions, where students showcased their developed models and shared insights gained during the activity. The program proved to be highly beneficial in nurturing industry-ready skills and promoting the practical use of AI in sustainable agriculture. The Department continues to organize such project-oriented training programs to bridge the gap between academics and industry requirements and to encourage students to work on technology-driven solutions for societal needs. Through this event, 35 participants get benefited and developed the application.
