Faculty Development Programme on “Semiconductor Devices, Fabrication & Layout Design”
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Selvam College of Technology, Namakkal and ICT Academy organized a Five Days Faculty Development Programme on “Semiconductor Devices, Fabrication & Layout Design” on 19.01.2026 at 09.30 AM in the Simulation Laboratory. The programme commenced with an inaugural session. Dr. S. Babu, Chairman, Selvam Educational Institutions, presided over the function. The event was conducted in the august presence of Dr.B.Kaviethra Nandhini, Secretary, Selvam Educational Institutions, and Mr. M. Karthik, Executive Director, Selvam College of Technology.
Dr.S.Ramabalan, Principal, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of semiconductor technology and VLSI design skills in modern engineering education and research. Mr. M. Ravichandran, Head, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, welcomed the participants and briefed about the objectives of the FDP. The Resource Person, Mr.G A Suman Sharma Analog Layout Engineer, Goldenbarrel Technologies, Bengaluru, delivered an in-depth technical session covering fundamentals of semiconductor devices, fabrication processes, layout design principles, and simulation-based analysis. The resource person also provided practical insights into industry-oriented design methodologies and demonstrated layout design and simulation techniques using relevant tools.
The FDP was highly interactive, and the participating faculty members actively engaged in discussions and hands-on activities. The programme helped enhance the participants’ technical knowledge and practical understanding of semiconductor fabrication and layout design, thereby enriching their teaching and research capabilities. The programme was coordinated by Dr. A. Jayaseelan, Professor (MBA) & Placement Officer, Selvam College of Technology, who ensured the smooth organization and successful execution of the FDP.
