
International Women’s Day Celebration
The Women Empowerment Cell and Voice of Womanhood of Selvam College of Technology, Namakkal, organized the International Women’s Day Celebration on 07 March 2026 at 01.30 PM in the EEE Seminar Hall. The event aimed to celebrate the achievements of women, promote gender equality, and encourage confidence, leadership, and creativity among students.
The programme was organized with the blessings of the Founder Chairman, Dr. P. Selvaraj, in the presence of Dr. S. Babu, Chairman, Selvam Educational Institutions, Dr. B. Kaviethra Nandhini, Secretary, and Mr. M. Karthik, Executive Director. The event was conducted under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. S. Ramabalan, and the support of Vice-Principal, Dr. A. Jegan, along with faculty members and coordinators.
The programme commenced with the Prayer Song, invoking the blessings of the Almighty. This was followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Mrs. R. Babysalini, Convener/Women Empowerment Cell, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, and students gathered for the celebration. Following this, Mrs. R. Vanitha, Convener of Voice of Womenhood, introduced the Chief Guest, Mrs. Kousalya Thamilalagan, B.Sc., Founder and Proprietor of Sri Glow Bridal & Beauty Care.
The celebration was honoured by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mrs. Kousalya Thamilalagan, who delivered an inspiring address on the theme “பெண்மையே வலிமை!”. In her motivational speech, she shared her entrepreneurial journey and experiences in building her career in the beauty and wellness industry. She encouraged students to believe in their abilities, work with determination, and pursue their dreams with confidence and dedication.
As part of the celebration, several competitions were organized for students to showcase their talents and creativity. The events included Rangoli Competition, Mehendi Competition, Fashion Dress Competition, Stall Arrangement, and Speech Competition. Students enthusiastically participated in these activities and displayed remarkable creativity, artistic skills, and confidence. More than 700 students participated in the various events.
Faculty members actively coordinated and monitored the events, ensuring discipline and the smooth conduct of the programme. The competitions created a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere on the campus and provided students with an opportunity to express their talents and ideas.
The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners of the competitions. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. M. Thenmozhi, HoD / Department of Biotechnology, who expressed gratitude to the management, dignitaries, chief guest, faculty members, organizers, and students for their valuable support in making the event a grand success. The programme ended with the National Anthem.
Overall, the International Women’s Day Celebration was a meaningful and inspiring event that highlighted the strength, achievements, and importance of women in society. The programme successfully motivated students and reinforced the values of women empowerment, leadership, and self-confidence.
